Youngster Ayden Heaven also impressed before an injury forced him off, with debutant Harry Amass stepping up admirably as a substitute.

For Leicester, the defeat was another blow in a dismal run. They became the first team in English top-flight history to lose seven consecutive home games without scoring, a statistic that paints a grim picture of their season. Sitting second-bottom with 17 points from 29 games, nine points from safety, relegation looms large. Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy acknowledged the quality gap, noting that while the game’s metrics were close, United’s finishing and key defensive moments made the difference.
