I go through the process of turning an ornament ball focusing on the basics of small form hollowing using the Laurent Niclot Mini Hollowers we sell at Turningwood.com.
I round it out using a fingernail ground spindle gouge, clean it up with a small shear scraper.
I hollow it through a 3/8" (9.5mm) opening, go through sanding , hollowing using small Laurent Niclot Mini Hollowers. Talk about chip evacuation, vacuum chucking and even using a pen mandrel to so some finishing and sanding.
It is more about small form hollowing, but the finished product is an ornament ball.
