Eagles of Death Metal's Jesse Hughes interviews Songland's, Victoria Banks. Banks is one of the four songwriters that will pitch a song to Florida Georgia Line on NBC's Songland.

"Songland" serves as a destination for music's biggest stars to find their next hit. The series is an authentic peek into the process of songwriting and provides one winner per episode the opportunity to have their song released by chart-topping artists. Season 2 guest recording artists include Boyz II Men, Florida Georgia Line, Luis Fonsi, H.E.R., Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride, Julia Michaels, Ben Platt, Bebe Rexha and Usher. Four songwriters will perform their original tracks in front of the guest artist and three of the most successful producers in music - Ryan Tedder (lead singer of OneRepublic and four-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer), Ester Dean (Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer) and Shane McAnally (three-time Grammy-winning songwriter and producer). In the end, a winner will be chosen and their song will be recorded and released for a global audience.
Victoria Banks has been nominated for 11 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards and was named CCMA Female Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year in 2010. She has been labeled “one of the best songwriters in the business” by Nashville’s MusicRow magazine. In addition to releasing three albums and touring with artists from Reba to Wynonna, Banks - who hails from Muskoka, Canada - has penned ASCAP, SOCAN, CCMA and Covenant-award-winning hits including Sara Evans’ solo-written “Saints & Angels”, Jessica Simpson’s Billboard record-breaking “Come On Over”, and one of the top Canadian singles of the decade: Johnny Reid’s “Dance With Me”. She has had cuts by over 100 artists including Carly Pearce, Lauren Alaina, Terri Clark, Cassadee Pope, Mickey Guyton, The Shires, Isaac Slade (of The Fray), and has had songs featured in TV and movies like Breakthrough, Nashville, American Idol, and Dancing With the Stars.
Jesse Everett Hughes is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He is best known as the frontman of the rock band Eagles of Death Metal (EODM), with whom he has recorded four studio albums and a live album. He has recorded two solo albums as Boots Electric, In 2011 Honky King & in 2019 EODM Presents Boots Electric Performing The Best Songs We Never Wrote. Hughes formed Eagles of Death Metal in 1998 along with lifelong best friend, Queen of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme. They released their debut album, Peace Love Death Metal in 2004. EODM subsequently released Death By Sexy (2006), Heart On (2008), and Zipper Down (2015).
A month after the release of Zipper Down, Hughes was the target of a terrorist attack while performing with EODM at famed Paris venue La Bataclan. A group of terrorists attacked the club, killing 89 of those in attendance, including the band's merchandise manager, Nick Alexander.
Hughes has been the subject of two documentaries, VICE’s The Redemption of the Devil (2015), and Colin Hank’s Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (2017). The music of Eagles of Death Metal has appeared in many films and television shows including; Silver Lining Playbook, Super Troopers 2, Epic Movie, Criminal Minds, and Get Shorty. Hughes is currently endorsed by Maton guitars and Orange amplifiers.
