Mike Shinoda - In My Head (Solo + Extended Intro Version - Audio - From Scream VI)

Happy Halloween everyone!!!! This project has been on my mind since April when Mike did a livestream on Twitch for the 20th anniversary of Meteora where he also talked about In My Head and debuted the Spooky Version, but amongst that, he also gave us a glimpse of a demo version of In My Head with only his vocals. This version always intrigued me (not that I don't love Kailee Morgue's vocals on the original song, but I love hearing alternate versions of songs I love), and when Mike released the Spooky Version EP, I noticed the solo version was not in there. I thought about this project, but eventually I dropped it for a while. After rewatching the livestream in full last week, I "got the bug" as Mike says to pick up this project, and I set forth making this version for a Halloween release date. While I was at it, I decided to add an extended instrumental introduction. Hearing the stems of the instrumental, I really liked them and was disappointed they could not really be heard in the final version, so I gave some of them some spotlight in the beginning, especially the guitar and the beat. Some of the vocals I could not remove, especially in the second half of the chorus, so I found a way to work around that, but most of this project went smoothly, with most of my time spent tinkering it to make it perfect. For the thumbnail and in the video, I wanted to use the background of the Spooky Version since I really like the red colors, but I kept the original album cover, albeit with some changes. I have really gotten into Mike's work this year after getting into LINKIN PARK fully last year. I had always heard LINKIN PARK songs throughout my life such as In The End, Shadow Of The Day (even though I did not know they made it at the time), Waiting For The End, and What I've Done, New Divide, and Iridescent from the Transformers movies. I would hear stuff throughout my life during and afterwards, even if I did not realize it at the time, like Numb, Breaking The Habit, A LIGHT THAT NEVER COMES with Steve Aoki, BURN IT DOWN, Until It's Gone, Heavy with Kiiara, and Sorry For Now, among others I probably can't remember or haven't listed here. In the latter half of 2022, I had a randomized YouTube playlist of recommended songs playing in the background as I work, and it would cycle through some of my favorite artists like Lady Gaga and Ellie Goulding, but when it came to LINKIN PARK, I found myself not skipping a single song of theirs. I had never had this happen with anybody I listen to, and it surprised me how even though some were very different than what I usually listen to, I did not dislike any of them. Then, with listening to The Messenger and having such a strong reaction to it, I fully decided to jump into their catalog. They became my favorite band and overall favorite artist due to their diversity yet consistent quality in sound along with relatable and well-written lyrics, and as a result, I started listening to their side projects like Mr. Hahn's vinyls, Grey Daze, Dead By Sunrise, Stone Temple Pilots (the stuff with Chester Bennington especially), Fort Minor, Chester's solo stuff, and Mike's solo stuff like Post Tramautic and his singles. With his Scream VI releases of Still Alive with Demi Lovato and In My Head with Kailee Morgue, that was about the first time I sought out his stuff myself, and I have only grown a deeper appreciation for his solo music from there. I am really loving his current releases such as with Already Over and its live versions, and I am looking forward to what's to come. This project was more of a quick inspiration and turnaround than usual, but I was very happy I made it and how it turned out.
