How to find and set top dead center on a Chevy 350 engine, and set the distributor. What things to look for in valve position, power stroke, timing marks, and aligning distributor properly for successful engine start up.
This engine sat on a stand for about 6 years. It ran great when I wrapped it up. After priming the engine oil and pre-lubing the top end the compression test was not great. I was reading 115 lbs in on cylinder, 120 lb in a couple, 130, 140, and 150 pounds of compression. Therefore, I am getting ready to run it on a test stand to heat it up and elevate proper oil pressure in the hopes of seeing improved compression test results.
Stay tuned. In the next video we will show you the engine running on a test rack in the driveway, and then retest the compression to see if we made some gains.
Thanks for watching.
