1937 America’s Cup Races
The first part of a 16mm film, photographed and produced by Frank Conant, later to be Director of the Graphic Arts, and Audio-Visual, departments at M.I.T. The film begins with views of Newport harbor, then moves out into Narragansett Bay where it shows the assembling spectator fleet including, oddly, a submarine (shown at 2:50). The film then covers the races very closely, including details of activity on both Ranger and Endeavour II.
Race starts at 4:18
The second part of the film, all on board 'Yankee', covers her trip to Marblehead after the Cup races.
From the collection of George O’Day.
