Recent studies have demonstrated that the combination of hyaluronic acid and platelet-rich plasma provides superior short-term outcomes in the treatment of partial-thickness rotator cuff tears. In a systematic review and network meta-analysis, HA + PRP showed the most significant pain relief and functional improvement within the first three months compared to other injectable therapies, including steroids. This combination was particularly effective in reducing pain, as measured by the visual analog scale, and improving shoulder function, as assessed by the Constant-Murley Score and ASES. However, after six months, no significant difference was observed among treatments, suggesting that the benefits of HA + PRP are primarily short-term. These findings highlight the potential of HA + PRP as an effective early intervention, enabling patients to achieve faster pain relief and improved mobility, which may facilitate a smoother rehabilitation process.
