Full Route Visual | London Bus Route 473 - North Woolwich Ferry to Stratford | (EDB52e) LF74TVM

The 473 is operated by Go Ahead London - Blue Triangle using some BD11's from Henley Road [DS] Garage. It goes from North Woolwich Ferry, Silvertown, London City Airport, Prince Regent, Excel London, Custom House, Plaistow, West Ham & Stratford Bus Station - for Westfield.

The route has an interesting history: The route was with Stagecoach London using Scania Omnicities alongside the 262 up until 2019 when Tower Transit got the route using B9TL's from 25, which ended up getting Streetdecks and that same route was lost to Stagecoach in 2020, so both 262 and 473 got 25's hand-me-downs again lol so it got Streetdecks. Then in 2022, Tower Transit's operations were sold to Stagecoach which meant that all Lea Interchange buses were now a part of the Stagecoach fleet. This was good as the route had many Scania Omnicity comebacks before the route was lost to GAL last year in March 2024.

After a long day exploring East London around 4 weeks ago, I decided to chill in North Woolwich. Although I experienced a few unsettling visuals at first, I remained hopeful that the journey would be enjoyable. The route started off fine, but things quickly went downhill. A driver change took an unexpectedly long time—around five to ten minutes which annoyed me a lot. Then, we began skipping multiple stops, which was fine afterwards. Eventually at Plaistow, a large family boarded the bus, loudly yelling and causing a commotion. To make matters worse, there was also a separate group of kids shouting at the top of their lungs.

What truly pushed me over the edge was that, even though the upper deck of the double-decker bus was only about 10% full, the family chose to walk all the way from the back to the front—right next to me. One of the kids sat next to me because the mother was like "iS iT oKaY iF hE sItS nExT tO yOu???". So, I had to shift to the right and the whole family started talking loudly, while a toddler, maybe around two years old, wouldn’t stop crying or yelling the entire time. I shifted over towards the window to get some space, but the kid just kept staring into my camera. I wanted a peaceful journey, but clearly, that was too much to ask for.

Then, I couldn't really get a good ending / photo footage as there were so many people crowded around Stratford so I just had to charge it and head back to North-West using the Jubilee Line.
