Sacrilege Incident at Historic Gurdwara in Jalandhar | Guru Granth Sahib Beadbi Case | Punjab News

A shocking and deeply disturbing incident of sacrilege (Beadbi) has come to light from village Mahla in Goraya area of rural Jalandhar, Punjab, where the holy Guru Granth Sahib Ji was disrespected inside the historic Gurdwara Shri Guru Nanak Dwar. This incident has sparked massive outrage and tension across the village and nearby areas.

According to local resident Jaspreet Kaur, she visited the Gurdwara around 5 PM and returned home after paying respects from outside, as no one was present inside. Nearly an hour later, around 6 PM, unknown miscreants allegedly entered the Gurdwara and committed the sacrilege. Villagers later received phone calls informing them that the holy angs (pages) of Guru Granth Sahib Ji were torn and thrown inside the premises.

As soon as the news spread, a large number of villagers gathered at the Gurdwara, expressing anger and grief. Although CCTV cameras are installed, none were operational at the time of the incident, raising serious security concerns. The Gurdwara is one of the oldest religious sites in the village, but currently does not have a permanent Granthi Singh.

On receiving information, Punjab Police immediately reached the spot. DSP Phillaur and SHO Goraya inspected the site and have begun investigating nearby CCTV footage to identify the culprits. Village Sarpanch Balwinder Kaur condemned the incident, calling it an attack on faith, and demanded strict punishment for those responsible to prevent such acts in the future.

Police have assured that the case is being thoroughly investigated, and all efforts are being made to arrest the accused at the earliest.
