Father Ray receives a troubling phone call about his good friend Father Jesse, who discovers that his HIV infection has become symptomatic AIDS. Disgraced, humiliated and despairing, Jesse plans to leave the priesthood, and Ray tries to change his mind. Along the way, Jesse wrestles with his mortality, his vocation and his own weakness, both spiritual and physical.
