How to draw wooden surface

During my last video while drawing an old barn, I promised you that I will show you how to draw wooden surface with more details. The barn drawn in last video was from distance; so there was not much scope to draw details on wooden sidings. If you are drawing a closer view of a barn, this video will help you to understand how to draw more details on wooden sidings. You can use the similar technique to draw other wooden objects as well. Here below are high level steps to draw it:

Fill the area with initial light shading using 6B pencil.
Blend the shading with a pencil blender.
Make horizontal lines using 4B pencil to revel wooden boards.
Using 4B pencil, make some knotholes; black spots on wood.
Draw some crack lines using a sharp 2B pencil.
Add some dark shading between crack lines.
Soften dark shading using a pencil blender.
Clean the area outside border and apply a prominent border.
