One Life to Live 4/8/1991

Viki asks Clint who Sondra is, pointing out the inscription in the book that fell out of his jacket, which says “To Clint, from Sondra. As we look towards the future.” Clint says Sondra is a young poet who published a book; he says she gave him a copy in hopes they might run one of her poems in the paper and boost her book sales. Andy gets back from dress shopping, as she tries to find an outfit for her dinner with Hunter. Wanda assures her that if she likes how she looked in the mirror, then whatever she got will be perfect. Jake shows up with a box full of flowers and is surprised that Megan beat him to the abandoned house. Megan is jumpy because of the creaking floors and the spiderweb she backed into and wants to leave, but Jake wants to give her a tour. Megan is none too thrilled when Jake pulls back a tarp to reveal Megan’s bed. Megan thinks this is some sort of elaborate prank, but Jake explains this house is all theirs–a client gave it to him in lieu of payment. He tells her of his grand plans to fix up the place (with Lucky pitching in to help with the plumbing), but she remains unconvinced. Tony seems annoyed with someone on the phone confirming an appointment. Andy asks if the appointment is to sign the papers to officially resign from the priesthood, and Tony explains he’s just annoyed because the church secretary has called to confirm multiple times. Andy asks if he’s having second thoughts, but Tony says he’s confident in his decision.Herb takes Dorian to lunch and suggests she lay off the city council in her articles. He suggests if the council wants to vote him in as mayor, they will, and if they don’t, they won’t. Dorian says city hall stories don’t sell papers anyways. She has her eye on The Banner instead. She thinks the paper is on the skids and thinks if she plays her cards right, she can get it for a song. Herb says Dorian doesn’t want to be publisher of the Banner. He insinuates that she just wants what Viki has and probably plans to destroy the paper and Viki’s family legacy with it. Dorian says Viki tricked her out of her shares of that paper years ago and she intends to claim what’s rightfully hers.

Several press room technicians tell Cord that his accident may come up in the upcoming union negotiations. Izzy says a lot of the guys are worried about safety and wonder whether the paper has been negligent. Cord later relays the conversation to Clint, who is furious at the insinuation. Andy models her dress for Wanda, but she keeps trying to back out of her date with Hunter. Wanda tells her she looks gorgeous and shoots down every other excuse Andy comes up with. Hunter comes to pick Andy up, but when he hears Andy telling Tony she wishes she could go to his appointment with him for moral support, Hunter claims to have double booked. Andy tels Hunter to go meet his college friend and she leaves with Tony to accompany him on his drive to Philadelphia. On the drive to Philly, Andy tells Tony tomorrow is the first day of the rest of his life, and she asks what his plans for the future are. He says he’s thought about it a lot. He tells her he has a degree in journalism and says he might pursue a career in it. Dorian waits for Clint in his office, and Clint is not happy to see her when he arrives. After arguing briefly and then throwing Dorian out, Clint calls his broker and sells several stocks. Megan says there’s no way they will ever live there. She says the place is uninhabitable and she is going home. Jake says she is home, and Megan counters that this place is not her home. Jake says he’s staying. Megan leaves, slamming the door behind her. Viki brings Clint a picnic dinner at work.
