SPDIF is a lossless, low-latency digital audio standard. it usually travels through RCA cables. but what if you could transmit it wirelessly?
you see, SPDIF has the same bandwidth requirements as NTSC, which is an analog video standard which also travels through RCA cables. NTSC wireless transmitters are dirt-cheap because they are used to connect backup cameras in cars. here is one for $12!

in this video, i transmit lossless 24-bit digital audio across a room using a $12 wireless transmitter. the signal chain is as follows:
4) NuForce uDAC-2 provides an SPDIF audio signal from my Surface Pro.
3) weird $12 trinket sends SPDIF across the room
2) Gefen TV DAC converts SPDIF back to analog audio
1) analog audio goes into my terrifying homebrew signal processors & speakers
so you can transmit wireless hi-fi audio for the price of lunch.
