The Plymouth and Dartmoor Railway was a horse drawn tramway mainly operating between 1823 and 1883, although some sections continued in use until 1960. The "main" line was between Plymouth and Princetown and mostly carried granite from the quarries on Walkhampton Common; also the Lee Moor Tramway branch carried china clay until 1945. In these videos I'm retracing the more easily accessible parts of the line and providing some historical information.
This part was filmed in January 2025.
Main information source was the 1997 book by Eric R.Shepherd, also the OS maps on the NLS site and the tithe maps on the Devon County Council website.
