LEGO Island Race Reimagined in 2025

After a very long time it's finally here! The race from the original LEGO Island reimagined. A lot of you have asked for it so here you go!

This video took a long time to make. Because I already did a few LEGO Island videos, I already had the island ready to go. The only thing left was to add the race track elements. Easy job! Or so I thought. I imported the actual race track elements from the game and expected it to fit together nicely. It doesn't. 😅 The game does some clever tricks to unload the previous world and load the next one in during the tunnel sequences. So luckily I could use those to my advantage.

Once that was figured out, I started on adding the LEGO elements to the world. The very first thing was to add the giant skeleton. It so fun to see it in this world in much more detail. Other than than the rocket ship, flying shark and white stripes on the roof, there isn't a lot to see. So I added in the pizzas to fill the environment. I really like the paintings/photos you have to dodge on the ground. So that gave me the idea to add more of them to the walls with my favourite characters from the different games. So it gets a hall of fame kind of look.

The giant octopus was also fun to add. The areas around it was quite empty so I added in more rock pieces. I also added a fun little gimmick that it's holding racers who weren't fast enough. 😋 The Time Cruisers duo also make an appearance! I feel like they should have had more presence in the games. How fun would it be to travel through these older LEGO games. They are voiced by ‪@RRSlugger‬ and friend.

Once the world was in place, I could animate the actual race. Similar to other LEGO racing games, the ai is really slow. For some reason, in the actual game, Studs Linkin has a lot more voice lines during the race than Rhoda Hogg. We never got to hear them because they are so slow. So in this video they are a lot faster so you get to see them more. Along with a few extra cars as a fun bonus. They were present in the intro animation of the game, so why not.

Once that was finished, it was time for the sound design and final composting. I hope you like the video! It was a lot of hard work but I'm happy with the end result.
