Bōsōzoku, Japan’s biker gangs
Bōsōzoku is a Japanese youth subculture known for its love of customized motorcycles. These biker gangs made their debut in the 1950s and gained massive popularity in the 80s and 90s, hitting their peak with over 40k members in 1982.
The fashion style is all about the unconventional, typically featuring boilersuits reminiscent of manual laborers or rocking leather military jackets paired with baggy pants and tall boots. This outfit, known as tokkō-fuku, is often jazzed up with kanji slogans. Adding to the flair are accessories like hachimaki, surgical masks, and patches showcasing the Rising Sun Flag.
