Tom Petty - I Won't Back Down - Cover - Noir Series

I Won't Back Down! This Tom Petty tune was released in April 1989 as the lead single from his first solo album, Full Moon Fever. The song was co-written by Petty and Jeff Lynne, also his writing partner for the album. It reached Number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Album Rock Tracks chart for five weeks, starting the album's road to multi-platinum status. It also had George Harrison play Acoustic on this tune. I assumed that Ringo played the drums on this track, since he's doing so in the video, and I said so at the end of the video, but I think I might be wrong about that...

These videos serve as lessons on how I play this bunch of Pop, Rock, and Reggae songs - sometimes as a single guitarist playing the only guitar part, though that's rare. And sometimes if there is more than one guitar part, then trying to find the single good path through the tune. I complete one pass, demonstrating different Rhythm parts, styles, and techniques. There is no talking. No discussion. No note-for-note explanations. As such, for clarity, my guitar is supposed to be louder in the mix than it would ever be in a live setting. But, if you really want to hear what I hear, do what I do and put on a good pair headphones with great bass response! It's worth it.

Why this is important to Rhythm Guitar:
First, I know it's a slide solo. I'm just presenting the notes, and maybe it's fine this way. Sometimes I think so. Sometimes I don't. Also, there are two really distinct Guitar parts to the song. The verse's 8ths and the chorus's big chords. But, the 8ths are odd if you listen closely. I'd like to be able to explain what I'm hearing, but listen for yourself and tell me if you don't think there's a bit of slightly odd movement through the verse chords.
