Study Finds More Water Ice at Moon’s North Pole | WION Podcast

A new international study led by ISRO and global collaborators reveals that the Moon’s northern polar region holds nearly twice as much water ice as the south pole, a key area for future lunar missions. While past efforts focused on the south, findings suggest more subsurface ice—up to 5–8 times deeper than surface levels—exists at both poles. Believed to originate from ancient volcanic outgassing, this buried ice may prove vital for sustaining human presence on the Moon.
