"Garbage!" performed with an audience of 800 screaming music lovers at the Tosco Music Party in Charlotte, NC, by Sam Edelston on April 12, 2025. Tosco Music Parties are all about participation and community, so I gave them a song they could really participate in!
It was written by the late folksinger Bill Steele in 1969, and popularized by Pete Seeger. (I once had a brief email correspondence with Bill, and his signature included the tag line, "Not all my songs are Garbage!") The third verse was added by my friend, New Jersey folk icon Mike Agranoff.
