Today I went down to the quarry site but the wind was pretty intense and gusty so after 3 hours parawaiting, decided to hit the old baseball field (AKA Rotor Field) to challenge the sure to be chaotic wind patterns there.
There's also a beautiful example of tree rotor action and why to stay out from behind them. I'm far braver on grass than spiked rock any day of the week, plus it's easier on the wing / lines. I can now feel what the wing is doing much better than even a week ago and this put that theory to the test!
Notice how many different directions I'm going over the course of a couple of hours. On the west side of the island it's open to the sea so it's much easier to kite there, but not good experience for less than ideal conditions. This is about as "less" as it gets.
Gusts of 15 knots, and lulls of zero, from any direction over 180 degrees! I'm feeling more confident these days ;)
