The history of Miss Taiwan Pageant (also known as Miss Taiwan World Pageant and Miss Taiwanese USA Pageant) began in 2000 with the primary goal of promoting Taiwanese culture to young Taiwanese Americans and to the peoples around the world. The pageant is organized by the Miss Taiwan Foundation (also known as Miss Taiwan World Foundation) which receives support from its many hard working volunteers and generous sponsors. One of the foremost responsibilities of Miss Taiwan is to take on the role of representing the foundation as its ambassador to build relations and engage in productive interactions with other communities. Other mission goals include:

-To promote the relations between Taiwan and other countries
-To encourage Taiwanese's participation and contribution to the society
-To nurture relations and promote productive interactions with other Ethnic groups
-To mentor and encourage young Taiwanese talents
-To share Taiwanese heritage for the benefits of humanity
