🧠💓HKUMed x HKU Stroke 世界健康日：齊來預防中風！World Health Day: BE STROKE SMART | 外籍家庭傭工免費健康檢查活動 ❤️

Our free health screening event for foreign domestic workers — co-hosted by HKUMed x HKU Stroke — was a great success! 🎉 A big shoutout to all the amazing health professionals, dedicated health ambassadors, and enthusiastic participants who made the day so meaningful and impactful. Together, we’re building a healthier community!

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ We provided screenings for atrial fibrillation, blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol, along with personalized health advice. Participants gained valuable insights into stroke risk and the importance of prevention. Our secondary school students — guided by HKUMed students and proudly serving as health ambassadors — also gained hands-on experience while helping raise awareness across the community.

💬 One participant shared: "I learned so much today — I didn’t know that diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure could increase stroke risk!"

📢 Prof. Gary Lau, Director of HKU Stroke, reminded us: "We’ve seen a rise in young stroke cases — about 10% involve foreign domestic workers. While caring for the general population, we must not forget to support every group in our community."

❤️ To spread love and awareness, we gifted participants with special pins designed by students — a brain made of hearts, symbolizing care and solidarity for stroke survivors and the public.

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ 我們為參加者提供了心房顫動、血壓、血糖及膽固醇等健康檢查，並根據他們的健康指數給予個人化的建議，提升他們對中風風險的認識，並了解預防中風的重要性。HKUMed 學生亦帶領着中學生擔任健康大使，向參加者推廣預防中風的資訊，並投入服務，實踐所學。

💬 有傭工朋友分享：「我學到很多有用的知識，原來糖尿病、高血壓和高血脂會增加中風的機會！」

📢劉巨基醫生提醒大家：「年輕中風個案有上升的趨勢，其中外籍家庭傭工佔約一成。大家在關注香港巿民健康的同時，請不忘照顧和關懷不同社群，互相幫助，共同提升社會對抗中風的意識。」
