Florence Athay answered the call to serve during World War I, leaving behind her work in New York to join the Army Nurse Corps. Like so many, she never made it to the front. After falling ill while crossing the Atlantic, Florence passed away in England and now rests at the Brookwood American Cemetery. Join us as we remember Florence and the more than 1,000 Americans honored on this hallowed ground.
