Nālani’s Flight | The Albatross Story About Plastic Pollution

This is the story of a Laysan albatross chick from Midway Atoll — whose short life reveals the devastating truth about plastic pollution in our oceans.

Far from human cities, deep in the Pacific Ocean, scientists discovered something heartbreaking: the stomachs of albatross chicks filled with plastic debris. Each piece of trash — bottle caps, fragments, even toothbrushes — tells a story of human impact on the most remote places on Earth.

This story is inspired by real scientific research conducted on Midway Atoll, where over 90% of Laysan albatross chicks have been found to ingest plastic. These findings continue to shape global awareness and policy on plastic waste.
