Hi, welcome to Deaf Talks News.
In India the Central Telecom Department launched the app called Sanchar Saathi app.
The government said that all new phones must have the app pre-installed.
Why did they order this ? What is the use of this app ? Let me explain.
In 2025, the Indian government launched an app called Sanchar Saathi App.
This app helps people track lost or stolen mobile phones.
Check IMEI fraud.
See how many SIM cards are registered under their name.
Get other security-related information.
So this is very useful for Indians.
Therefore the government ordered every new phone to be compulsory and old phones must get the app through a software update within 120 days.
All mobile companies were told to follow this order and report back.
But many people raised concerns.
They said the app may collect too much personal data from users' phones including call logs, messages, camera access for photos and videos, and more.
Critics said this might allow the government to monitor citizens’ private information.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, strongly criticised the government’s decision to make the app mandatory.
After this the Central Government Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has now withdrawn the mandatory order.
He said that the government has a responsibility to make the app available to everyone.
But if you don’t want it, you can delete it.
So now, installing or using Sanchar Saathi is completely optional.
