This digital refractometer (BRIX sugar meter) was easy to use, but I would only say it has 1-2% precision. I mixed up a 10% BRIX sugar water solution (using the same tap water I used to zero out the meter) by mixing 100g of water with 10g of sugar, and the meter reading was 8.4%.
When I tested a soda that should have been 10.8% (according to the nutritional label) I was getting readings between 10.3 and 11%).
So it may be 0.2% accuracy under very controlled conditions, in my kitchen, I was getting between 1-2% accuracy with it. This is still fine for most household purposes, but if high accuracy is something you need this may not be the best option for you.
It does include the 3x AAA batteries needed in the box, as well as a plastic pipette for transferring fluids.
