What are fertilisers? Fertilisers help to plants grow, thus increasing crop yields. They contain helpful nutrients and minerals like nitrogen, potassium and phosphorous which aid in plant growth. Excess fertilisers washing off fields causes a problem known as 'eutrophication'.
