Labyrinth, Adam Thompson, 2010.

This week we are featuring Labyrinth by Adam Thompson, a ten minute animation made by culling drawings from Thompson's archive of thousands of images executed in mechanical pencil, each of which attempts to crystalize a surprising or absurd visual idea. In Thompson's words: "The archive is an idiosyncratic assortment of corny jokes, visual puns, puzzling abstractions, art history references, weird juxtapositions - mixed-up half-sense of all sorts. By stringing these ideas together into slideshows and movies, an elevated level of attention is demanded from the viewer."
