The True Queen Bee: Monet De Haan | Style Analysis of Gossip Girl (2021)

In this video, I will be covering Monet De Haan from Gossip Girl (2021). Initially, I was going to wait for part II of season one to be released so that all of her outfits would be showcased. I have decided to try out a new type of analysis since I adore her style and character- the upcoming video will be an analysis of her fashion in relation to character traits with the events of part I and if requested, I will break down style in relation to development once part II is out. In the first video, we will be going over her style and personal take on preppy fashion that is rooted in prestige, decadence, and heritage. I'll be deciphering the symbolism of her wardrobe in relation to her traits and goals as well as how this complements her magnetic quality that demands the room with fashion powerhouses.

We will also be looking into the sociology and psychology of her place in the world through social stratification in addition to her power trio friendship with Freudian Trio theory. Though Julien is dubbed queen, Monet is the ultimate Queen bee of the show who has a natural power, understands implementing influence, and is the mastermind serving as a PR consultant alongside their friend Luna. Through this, we will see how Monet’s fashion functions in relation to her social life on top of her defining trait of “power.” In her first look, she set the tone with her statement Balmain ensemble and as the mission statement of Balmain goes, “to always dress women in the right look for the right moment.” We will see how her fashion is always suited to and goes beyond the moment to capture her aura, command, and visually project just as she does while setting down her own path.
