And then there were two. Guitarists, that is, of the famed and fabled Lynyrd Skynyrd triple threat guitar attack. Ed King left and Steve Gaines hadn’t yet joined the band. The triumvirate was a duo. Allen Collins, tall, lean, and crazy long almost afro-ish hair. Gary Rossington, dark in demeanor and hair, long, with sideburns to boot. It’s 1975, and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s "Nuthin’ Fancy Tour" rocks and rolls into Europe. On November 11, 1975, BBC’s Television Theatre in London, England hosts Lynyrd Skynyrd. A performance of about 45 minutes without commercials for the famed Old Grey Whistle Test television series. Confederate flags in the studio audience and behind the band. They could’ve been back in the States, in the South rockin’ and rollin’ with that country/blues hard rockin’ style. The seven-song set includes two J.J. Cale covers back-to-back, and this party’s available for free of YouTube. A must watch for Skynyrd/Southern rock/classic rock fans. You can thank me later.
