Nicholas Zakaria, popularly known as Madzibaba, is a legendary Zimbabwean Sungura musician and band leader. Born in 1956, he began playing guitar at a very young age and by the time he was a teenager, he was already leading small groups like The Green Mangoes.

In the 1980s, he formed the Khiama Boys, a group that went on to become one of the most influential Sungura bands in Zimbabwe. Through this band, he mentored many successful musicians, including Alick Macheso and System Tazvida, who later built their own strong careers.


Released in the mid-2000s, Chiedza showcases Zakaria’s trademark Sungura style—with vibrant guitar work, compelling rhythms, and lyrical themes ranging from spiritual introspection (Mwari Makandida) to social commentary (Musamugwilegwile). The album stands as a bridge between the classic Sungura sound of the 1980s and a more modern production approach seen in the 2000s era.
