In today's video, I'm transforming a simple piece of wood into a stunning, rustic-themed beer tap handle display rack for my newly built basement kitchenette. Join me as I take you through the process of giving this wood an ancient look using various tools and techniques, making it the perfect addition to my beer lover's sanctuary.

Starting off, I dive into random cuts and scratches to add character to the wood using my multi-tool, a hole-cutting jig, and a rasp file. The real magic happens when I introduce the traditional Japanese wood-burning technique called Shou Sugi Ban, which beautifully highlights these marks.

After the torching, I smoothen the wood with 220-grit sandpaper and move on to staining it solid black to deepen the textures. Just when you think it's all covered up, I re-sand the piece to reveal stunning details and edges, followed by a warm dark walnut stain to fit the rustic theme of my basement.

The finale involves installing beer tap attaching screws, aligning and fixing them with precision, and giving the display rack a final coat of spray clear polyurethane for a glossy finish. To protect my custom epoxy countertop, I've added silicon sticky button pads to the base of the rack.
