Today’s Morning Ritual for Guitar Growth (Ep. 237) was our special Thanksgiving-Weekend edition — complete with holiday gratitude, classic guitar tones, deep theory insights, and some beautiful Joe Pass–inspired chord colors.

We switched over to the Kalamazoo KG-22 today (a lovely companion!) and moved through the full warm-up ritual:

• 1–2–3–4 permutations
• Finger-4 stretch • Finger-1 stretch
• Diagonal 4-finger patterns
• Minor 7 (root-5) arpeggio
• Major 7 (root-5) arpeggio

The last 15 minutes turned into a Joe Pass chord-embellishment masterclass, exploring how Joe (and Ted Greene) reduce harmony to major, dominant, and minor as the three universal chord families.

We also explored a beautiful Chet Atkins–style fingerpicking approach, alternating bass lines, open-position C-major 7 shapes, major-6 voicings, altered dominants, and a gorgeous extended turnaround:

C7 → Fm7 → B7 → Eb7 → Ab
