Florence is the capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, and home to many renowned masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture.

If you only have one day, here are some of my favorite things to do in Florence:

⛪️ Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore - also known as the “Duomo” this cathedral is at the city’s heart and beautifully decorated in white and green marble.
🍷 Wine window - these date back to the 15th century. While there’s 150+ wine windows throughout the city, only a few are actually in use. 🖼️ Uffizi Gallery - the most famous gallery in Florence with an abundance of art to discover. The exteriors are just as beautiful.
🌅 Piazzale Michelangelo - grab a bottle of wine and head to this piazza that offers panoramic views of Florence with Tuscan hills, with beautiful sunsets.
🌉 Ponte Vecchio - an ancient medieval bridge over the Arno River, lined with jewelry and luxury watch shops.
🏛️ Piazza della Signoria - square located in front of Palazzo Vecchio, the center of Florentine political life. Houses famous sculptures and buildings.
🍦 Gelato - you can’t go to Italy and not have gelato. Our favorites were Gelateria dei Neri and La Carraia.
🥪 All’Antico Vinaio - the legendary Florentine sandwich shop. Lines can get long but it moves quick.
