"Little Girl" Director: Marc Daniels. Writers: Arthur Stander, Frank Tarloff, Ben Starr. Joan and Brad try to socialize Brad's painfully shy teenage ward, Janet (Anne Whitfield), with an equally shy boy, Harold (Leon Tyler-who appears in "Jitterbug" and "Tropical Fish"). In order to kindle a flame, Brad and Joan encourage each of them separately, regaling them with the story of how shy one of them was they met. The script and the story of each account are exactly the same, but each recalls the story a little differently! The plan backfires: Janet and Harold fall in love and want to get married. Brad and Joan meet with Harold's parents (played by Florence Ravenal and Frank Fenton) and Joan comes up with a plan to discourage them: what kind of life can they have on Harold's $20.00 a week salary from Parker's Department Store?! In this section, Joan and Brad play different characters, and you'll get to see from Jim Backus an evolution of his snooty radio character Hubert Updyke III, and a forerunner of "Gilligan's Island's" Thurston Howell III! This is a simple, easy-going episode. Enjoy!
