No2 friction winder at Warsop Main Colliery. This was a 1300hp DC, motor direct coupled to the drive shaft. Two 30mm locked coil winding ropes attached each end to two cages. Up to 50 men capacity on two decks, or 8 tons of material. The shaft was 430 metres deep. Cages went through the shaft at a max speed of 10 m/s
No1 winder was the same set up except, having four 28mm winding ropes. The same capacity of 8 tons. This shaft was only for coal, auto loading/unloading. Same shaft depth.
