Bruce Larson (Larson Consulting) walked through building an executive dashboard for Sales by Customers/States/Product Group/Sales Category using subqueries, advanced groupings, and parameters via an updateable BAQ on a UD Table

How can you consistently analyze your data? Executive dashboards allow you to do this easily and efficiently look at the data. Bruce walked through using a UD table to hold parameters/filters, creating a BAQ using that UD Table, and then creating a dashboard using the BAQ. He showed how choosing an item in one result filters results in the other grids and how these can be chained together. He walked through how he created the Parameters table in UD11 and then used a BAQ to get the data. Bruce walked through the Advanced Group by Clause and how that is used for putting together the aggregate information for the BAQ. By using “flag” fields, Bruce was able to create grouping sets for the various areas of his dashboard use this for the publish/subscribe. The entire dashboard comes back from a single BAQ and uses filters to present the various data. How to use the RollUp and Cube functions in advanced grouping were discussed and walked through.
