Additive manufacturing: challenges and opportunities for nuclear technologies
Advanced manufacturing processes, such as additive manufacturing and hot isostatic pressing, have made significant progress in recent years. These technologies are now being effectively adopted across several high-tech sectors (aerospace, space, defense, etc.). The nuclear sector is following this trend: the first components produced using additive manufacturing are now being deployed in operational nuclear power plants. Moreover, the integration of these advanced manufacturing processes into AFCEN codes is currently under instruction. This workshop will highlight the latest advancements through the results of the ARQANE project, which brings together the expertise of EDF, Framatome, Orano, TechnicAtome, Naval Group, Inovsys, Team Henri-Fabre, the Institut de Soudure, and the CEA. Finally, we will discuss the remaining technological and industrial challenges to broaden the application scope of additive manufacturing to the wide variety of mechanical components used in nuclear reactors
Speakers:
Stéphanie Riché, Circular Economy of Materials program manager, CEA
Jean-Christophe Vidil, President of Nikon SLM France, Nikon SLM
Franck Bocquet, Technical Director, TEAM Henri-Fabre
