S13 Silvia, NA MX-5, Mazda Familia & VW Golf GTE : Cars & Coffee Taranaki

In this video, we head to a laid-back but vibrant Cars and Coffee meet in Taranaki, where Gator checks out an awesome variety of rides. The spotlight is on four very different but equally cool cars:

First up is a Nissan Silvia S13 K’s, a proper JDM classic. This version came factory with the SR20DET 2.0L turbocharged engine, rear-wheel drive, and a 5-speed manual—making it a favourite for drift fans and collectors alike.

Next, a clean 1994 Mazda MX-5 NA, known for its light weight, superb handling, and timeless design. This one’s the 1.8L version with a 5-speed manual, delivering around 130hp and pure driver engagement.

Then we take a look at a tidy 1984 Mazda Familia, rocking a 1.6L naturally aspirated engine and front-wheel drive. While not a performance machine, it’s a great example of simple, reliable 80s motoring and a rare survivor.

Finally, a sleek and modern VW Golf GTE rounds out the mix. This plug-in hybrid hot hatch combines a 1.4L TSI turbo petrol engine with an electric motor for a total output of around 201hp. It’s got the looks, performance, and eco credentials—all in one package.
