On Thursday, January 30 at 7pm in JMU's Wilson Hall Auditorium, Dr. Heidi B. Hammel (Executive Vice-President, Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy) told the story behind the current debate about Pluto's planethood. She described Pluto's history, and also talked about future exploration of Pluto. At the end of the talk, the audience recreated the vote by astronomers that took place in Prague in August 2006 that removed Pluto from the ranks of the planets. Watch the video and see how you would have decided the fate of Pluto if you had been in Prague! This talk is suitable for all ages and is PERFECT for the young scientist/engineer in your family!
