The ability to 1-shot enemy archers in the torso is pretty big. Pair that with the guaranteed assist on a full draw hit, and I'm starting to change my opinion on the bow a bit. Still not as good as the longbow for general use cases, but the above advantages do offset how slow and clumsy it is.
