This historic site is known not only for its breathtaking ruins but also for the fascinating stories behind them. At its center stands the Pyramid of Kukulcán, or El Castillo. Another key feature of Chichen Itza is the Ball Court, where the Mayans played a ritual ballgame with deep religious and political meaning—sometimes ending in human sacrifice. The Temple of the Warriors, with its rows of warrior-carved columns, highlights the military strength of the Mayans and was dedicated to the god of rain.
