عَلَا النّبضُ.. قالوا "وصلنا المدينَةْ"
فَهاجَتْ مشاعرُ قلبي الدّفينَةْ
Hearts throbbed loud and people said, "We have reached al-Madinah!"
My heart's buried feelings flamed up.

حبيبي محمّدُ مَن عِشتُ أرجو
لِقاهُ.. هُنا.. منهُ نُورُ المدينَة
My beloved Muhammad, whom I lived hoping to visit..is here.
From him comes the light of al-Madinah


هُنا كانَ يَأكُلُ حِبّي ويشرَبْ
هُنا كانَ قَلبُ مُلاقيهِ يَطرَبْ
It’s here where, my love [Muhammad], used to eat and drink.
It’s here where the heart of those who met him rejoiced.

فيا لَيتني عِشتُ عُمريَ أقرَبْ
وكُنتُ لَهُ خادمًا في المدينَةْ
I wish I have lived my life closer;
and was his servant in al-Madinah




هُنا قامَ لَيلًا.. وصامَ وصلّى
هُنا العِزُّ والجودُ كلٌّ تجلّى
It’s here where he woke up at night and fasted and prayed.
It’s here where glory and goodness were all displayed.

وما رُدَّ ضَيفٌ بِدارِهِ حَلَّ
فجئنا وكلُّ الرّجا في المدينَةْ
No guest to his grounds, was ever rejected.
So, we came and all of our hope is in al-Madinah
بِرَوضَتِهِ يا هناءَ المُصَلّي
صفاءُ الكئيبِ وزادُ المُقِلِّ
In his mosque, delight comes for he who prays
… the heartsick finds serenity and the deprived finds provision

دخلتُ وصَلَّيتُ فيها لعلّي
أنالُ النّجاةَ بأرضِ المدينةْ
I went in and prayed, perhaps
I get salvation in al-Madinah


أَقَمنا الصّلاةَ لعلَّ الجِباهَ
تُلامِسُ موضعَ أقدامِ طٰهَ
We started the prayer, perhaps the foreheads
would touch a spot [Muhammad’s] feet stepped on.

مُبارَكَةٌ كُلُّ أرضٍ أتاها
فيا سَعدَ رُوحي بِتُربِ المدينةْ
Blessed is every land he came to.
My soul is pleased with the dust of al-Madinah
هُنا والّذي خَلَقَ العالمينَ
شِفاءُ السِّقامِ رِوا العاشقينَ
It is here, by Allah who created the worlds,
where illness heal, and followers find content.

جِوارُ النّبيِّ سَبَى الرُّوحَ فينا
وذابَ الهوى في هواءِ المدينَةْ
The Prophet's neighborhood enchanted the spirit in us,
and passion melted in the air of al-Madinah
سَلامي عليهِ سَلامٌ لِرُوحي
جلَاءُ الهمومِ شِفاءُ الجرُوحِ
My praise to him is peace to my soul.
My praise to him is the ease of my worries and the healing of wounds.

فإنْ عُدتُ للبُعدِ يا رُوحُ رُوحي
فأسمى معاني الهوى في المدينَةْ.
If I go back to being far from him,
O, soul! Wander to him, because the highest meaning of passion is in al-Madinah
