2019 Hyundai Accent

Having just undergone a complete redesign, the Hyundai Accent will see no major changes for the 2019 model year. As before, look for the car to offer a solid mix of value-oriented pricing and updated connectivity & safety features that give it new appeal over the outgoing generation.

Apart from a total re-do, the latest Accent's most noteworthy change was the elimination of the 5-door hatchback. Now available only as a sedan, the only other options for hatchback fans is the more expensive Elantra GT or redesigned Veloster.

For 2019, the Accent gains a cascading chrome grille across the range. Previously, it was available only in the most expensive version. The SEL will get standard fog lights and chrome beltline molding, while the Limited will get LED headlights. Unfortunately, there are no signs that Hyundai has done anything to resolve the vehicle's intrusive engine noise highlighted in our most recent review.

Safety is an area in which the current Accent presents a better value compared to the previous generation. Buyers can now access advanced features like automatic emergency braking. However, this technology only becomes standard when upgrading to the range-topping Limited trim.

Shoppers should be aware that deals on the Accent tend to favor those looking to buy or finance. In fact, we almost never see lease promotions. That said, this isn't something necessarily limited to the Accent. In many cases, residual values and discounts can make leasing a compact car nearly as affordable.
