AI assisted composition:
Symphonic poem (1897 style). VII. CODA: “PEACE DESCENDS” (NOCTURNE OF FAREWELL). A majestic and sweeping emotional climax that honors a medieval princess. Dynamic, noble, and overwhelmingly grand., Intimate solo piano nocturne, romantic era style. Melancholic, expressive, rubato, lyrical melody over arpeggiated left hand accompaniment. Atmosphere of rain-swept stone monastery halls, tragic romance, and quiet mourning. Delicate trills and expressive phrasing. Emotional, tender, and sorrowful.

👉 Icelandic is not Old Norse, but it descends directly from it and preserves it with extraordinary fidelity.
🪶 In poetic terms:
If Old Norse was the tongue of the Viking skalds,
then Icelandic is its living echo — a river that still follows its ancient bed, though the waters are new.
Lyrics by Jean de Bresson:
VII. CODA — “PEACE DESCENDS” (NOCTURNE OF FAREWELL)
1. Heimför sendisveina.
Farnir úr höllum
höfðingja Spánar,
norðr í öldurnar
náðu þeir aftur.
Sögðu af fríðleik
frúarinnar ungu,
gjöfum og heiðri
gefnir á ferðum.
2. Dauði fríðar meyjar.
Stutt var sú sæla
sem sett var í hjarta,
kólnaði draumur
í suðrænum heimi.
Kristína dó þá
í kirkjunnar skugga,
norrænar sorgir
sofna við gröf hennar.
3. Eftirlið hins unga.
Felipus sorgar
fór annan veg brátt,
tvisvar hann kvæntist
í tíðinni næstu.
Snauður af gleði,
snemma þó kallað,
féll hann í helgan
hvíldarstað riddara.
4. Friður sezt yfir.
Grár logn um leiðir
langra ferðasagna,
minningar vaka
í moldinni djúpu.
Tvíburi bandanna
brotnaði, liði,
en nafn þeirra lifir
í nætursögnum manna.
VII. CODA — “LA PAZ DESCIENDE” (NOCTURNO DE DESPEDIDA)
1. El regreso del séquito.
Partió de las altas
cortes de Castilla
el séquito noble
rumbo al norte.
Contaron al rey
la hermosura de la doncella
y los honores regios
que en España recibieron.
2. La muerte de la princesa.
Breve fue la dicha
que unió sus destinos;
se apagó su sueño
bajo el sol extraño.
Cristina murió
a la sombra del templo,
y duermen sus nostalgias
junto a su tumba.
3. El destino del infante.
Felipe, doliente,
siguió pronto otro rumbo;
dos veces casado
en los años que siguieron.
Pobre de consuelo,
demasiado joven,
cayó en la paz sagrada
del templo de los caballeros.
4. Desciende la paz.
Un gris y suave
silencio cubre la historia;
velan las memorias
en la tierra profunda.
La alianza forjada
se quebró en su breve hora,
pero sus nombres viven
en las canciones nocturnas.
MEDIEVAL- MODERN POETRY & MUSIC. Jean de Bresson, creates lyrical and visionary works where myth, memory, and sound converge. His poems and sung ballads act as bridges—between history and the present, language and music, the visible and the unseen. Each piece resonates with echoes of troubadours, sagas, and crusade songs, while unfolding in the voices of today. Presented in Spanish, English, and Icelandic/Old Norse, his creations weave the ancient and the modern into one tapestry. Poetry is revelation: an invitation into a labyrinth of hidden meanings where faith, wonder, and imagination dwell.
