The album was heavily influenced by Usher's real-life experiences and relationships, making it a deeply emotional and relatable body of work.

To promote the album, Usher embarked on a world tour, which included stops in North America, Europe, and Asia. He also performed at several high-profile events, including the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show and the MTV Video Music Awards.
