KEEP PAINTING - Fresh air and creativity in a quiet landscape.

Hardly a cure all I know. Maybe making art right now isn't at the top of everyone's agenda, but if you can find some time to be by yourself and help hold on to some sanity then all the better. This time spent out in the Spring sunshine today was very peaceful and a break from all the craziness going on. Of course it's important to stay informed but if I watch the news 24/7 I'm going to lose it!
I realise not everyone can get out to the countryside and in that respect I am very fortunate but try to stay calm and get out with your paint brush if you can. If you can't, I hope this video gives you small taste of serenity for a little while.

Working with mixed media using a variety of different paints. I work rapidly but build up the paintings in layers to make sketches that can be referenced in studio paintings.

Lewis Noble has lived and worked in Derbyshire since 1996. His focus lies in the physical and emotional impact of the landscape on the senses and the effect this experience has on us.

His paintings are not snapshots or photographic frozen moments but through repeated layering and eroding of the painted surface, they contain all of the time it takes to make them.

The result is a body of work that speaks to the heart of what it means to be part of the environment.
