The third program in our new 'Victorian Tales' series, entitled ‘The Portrait of His Wife,’ looks at the feelings engendered by portraiture. This short story considers the relationship between the artist and his/her model, particularly when the model is the artist’s wife. It is resplendent in its concern for Victorian sentiment and perhaps can explain why some portraits are more magical than others!
