Chengdu Pandas: A Species Being Saved Against Its Will 🐼 🇨🇳

I had just 24 hours in Chengdu… so obviously the first thing I did was drop my bag at Desti Youth Hostel and sprint straight to the Panda Research Base.

And wow — nothing on Earth is as gloriously lazy, adorable, and deeply unbothered as a panda.
They sleep 20 hours a day, eat for 3 hours, and spend the remaining hour doing absolutely nothing.

Honestly, I’m not convinced pandas actually want to continue existing — humans seem far more invested in keeping them alive than they are.

After wandering through what felt like 500 acres of bamboo and panda nap sites, I headed out to explore Chengdu’s nightlife at Jiuyanqiao Bar Street and Lan Kwai Fong Chengdu. Think neon lights, thumping music, and me questioning every life decision that led me to flying to a different Chinese city every single day.

This trip was meant to be simple. Instead, it has become a high-speed experiment in sleep deprivation, panda philosophy, and questionable street beers.
