Mississippi Regional Community Mental Health Centers Commissioners Training - November 2022

This presentation was provided to the Community Mental Health and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Commissioners group meeting at Region 8 Mental Health Services on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. As a result of SB 2610 of the 2020 Mississippi Legislative Session, the Mississippi Department of Mental Health is required to provide orientation training to all new commissioners of regional commissions and annual training for all commissioners with continuing education regarding the Mississippi mental health system and services as developed by DMH. This presentation and the recording were made in order to provide this training.

The presentation provides a general discussion of mental health, an introduction to the Mississippi Department of Mental Health and the state's public mental health system, an overview of commitment law in the state, an overview of community mental health services in the state, and several other topics.
